I am fine with almost everything. . . almost. First, I want the car a car to make a noise. If it is a racecar it better be one of the loudest thing I have ever heard. Hell, 80% of the reason I go to a race is to have my ear bleed. Speakers would be nice, but that is kind of fake(I know BMW already does this). Next, I want to shift gears! I don't really care if it is with a stick or with paddles, I just want to do it. I know the second one isn't very possible, but the first one may be. So guys, how long until EVs take over and gas powered cars are no longer used? Is it 20 years or so?

Several ways to make it louder: Mandate straight-cut dog-box transmissions, and also use air compressors and motors for a KERS-style system.

Care to explain further. . . I am intrigued.

Straight cut gears tend to produce all manner of wailing noises. See this video:
Air compressors tend to also be quite loud, especially when unmuffled, sort of like a semi truck compression braking. As a kid (and sometimes even now), I'd take an air drill and modulate the air flow and it would sound vaguely like a car's motor.

Well I know about straight cut gears, I want some in a road car. . . that is never going to happen. Never heard an air compressor though, but would they actually use this stuff in an electric car?

Doubt it. They can already do regenerative braking with electric motors, so this would be purely for the noise.

It can totes happen, you just have to buy them aftermarket. Strongly considered getting some for my STI.

I am sure people can fine tune the way these sound to make them sound awesome! You could have an electric car with one of these that sound like a Lambo V12. . . if this happens, I am fine with EV.

WHAT?
YOU WANT MORE ENGINE NOISE?
WHAT IF THEY USED TURBINES TO GENERATE THE ELECTRICITY?
I SAID, WHAT IF THEY USED TURBINES TO GENERATE THE ELECTRICITY!

I wrote a nice little piece on this car. Fantastic engineering, the engines were actually going to be used to power military helicopters.

WHAT!?
SPEAK UP!
I love turbines in any form. They sound so good.
"Your engine hits 9,000 rpm? That's cute. My powerband is right around 20,000"

The one in the Howmet has a redline of 57K. . . yeah.
